Join us for a hands-on afternoon exploring the magical chemistry of traditional lye soap making with Mandi Sawyer of Wild Haven Farm. Mandi is a board-certified herbalist and licensed acupuncturist. She runs the herbal dispensary at North Central Health Sciences University, where she also serves as an adjunct professor teaching dispensary management—and she’s the maker behind all of Wild Haven Farm’s famous goat milk soaps. In this three-hour workshop, Mandi will walk you through the full soap making process from start to finish. Topics will include:

The benefits of lye soap
The unique benefits of fresh goat milk in soap
Fragrance oils vs. essential oils
Soap making safety and best practices
Choosing high-quality ingredients
Basic allergy and sensitivity considerations

Participants will make their own small batch of soap to take home, gaining confidence and experience working with lye, oils, and goat milk in a supportive, guided setting. A couple of our friendly goats from Wild Haven Farm will be visiting WEI for meet-and-greets before and after class. After the workshop, you’ll also have the option to join a short tour of Wild Haven Farm, located less than three miles down the road from WEI. Disclaimer: No medical advice will be given during the class. More details and a registration link will be posted soon. Space is limited, and WEI courses tend to fill quickly—stay tuned and plan to reserve your spot early!
