Want to lend a hand? Interested in learning to build your own chicken shelters?
Come join us on Saturday, 22 March 2025 and help us build five Suscovich chicken tractors. Tractors are used to secure the chickens in the pasture throughout the season while allowing us to move them daily to get fresh grass. We’ve used four of these for the past couple years and it’s time to expand our fleet.
All materials will be provided and some of the wood will be pre-cut and ready to assemble. We’ll have a few people on hand to help you learn everything from basic carpentry to the technical fine details of tractor selection and pasturing poultry.
Please RSVP! It’s really important that we know (early) who is coming so that we can plan food and resources.
Please note: Due to biosecurity concerns, participants will not have direct access to the poultry. However, we will show you the facilities during the tour.
There is an unimaginable amount of work on the farm. Mandi and I are responsible for all of it (with the help of a dedicated volunteer). But beyond helping us (which is awesome!) we want you to come see how your food is grown and how a traditional, diversified farm works. We can’t produce food without infrastructure (tractors, sheds, water lines, fences, and more). The 2025 season is going to be one huge build and will take a small army if we want to meet our goals of expanding our poultry and goats as well as adding market veggies and Chinese herbs. Thanks in advance for your support.
